Improve adolescent self esteem

Improve adolescent self esteemWhen we talk about self-esteem refers to the affective assessment we make of ourselves.

We can consider that we are valuable people, intelligent and with many things to offer or conversely, may consider not worth for anything, we do not deserve anything and even if we think no one would want if we really knew.

In the latter case, we will have a low self-esteem to be a very important influence our day to day.
Self-esteem is going to work in our daily lives as a filter for what happens to us, it's like self-esteem were sunglasses that always wear.

If our self esteem is low or negative then our glasses are black and everything that happens to us that we see color.

Here is an example, suppose a student, Mary, you just know that it has suspended an important consideration, if Mary has a high self-esteem may think: "This teacher is a disaster, you will have read or review, or can also think, "Wow, seems not studied enough in the next I agree."
However, if on the other hand, Maria has a low valuation of itself it is more likely to think: "I must be stupid, no I will never get, not worth to study."

It's easy to see the difference, when Mary gets his black glasses (low self-esteem) will interpret everything that happens to it as proof that it really is useless, has no value.
This will cause feelings of sadness, which in the worst cases can lead to a major depression.
How can improve self-esteem? The first thing we need to know is that the self is not something we are born, but we ourselves have built.

Thus, it is important to know that self-esteem is going to change throughout our lives and we, with our work, we can also change.
The requirement to improve our self esteem is to stop criticizing ourselves.
It is important to identify the thoughts like "I'm useless," I'm ugly, I do everything wrong, "" I'm disgusted, "" if people really knew me, I do not want ", etc.. Whenever think so, we are abusing our hard-esteem.

When you "catch" this kind of thinking we must try to assess in a more positive thinking and change this situation by a more rational, less radical.
An example: Sofia has just delivered a project to its head after two months working on it, and thereby browse over and tells him he has to change a few things and it was delivered the next day.

Sofia then think: "if you do everything wrong, two months and my job is useless, do not know how to keep me working here ..." Here Sofia could assess other possibilities, such as: "Great, so my boss is demanding that only two changes he has asked me stupid, that is that you like."
Or another possibility: "Wow, I had forgotten to put it so well, is a quick and got it ready tomorrow.

"In short, depending on the situation and the person can be many possibilities, but these do not cease to be real, they are rational.
If we put this into practice with intent, over time we shall be automatic and high self esteem will help us be more positive, and of course, happier.
